Dr. Crook’s Services
Dr. Crook is a Physiatrist. This is a physician who specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. It is a diverse medical specialty requiring 4 years of residency after medical school. Over 90% of sports and occupational injuries do not require surgery. Therefore, the physiatrist can offer aggressive non-surgical approach to pain and injury. Your treatment plan could include Osteopathic Medicine Treatment (OMT), trigger point injections, PT, non-narcotic medications, studies, or referrals.
Dr. Crook is an Osteopathic Physician. A Doctor of Osteopathy, DO, is a fully trained and licensed physician who can diagnose and treat health related problems, prescribe medications, and perform surgery. DO’s, and MD’s undergo similar training in medical school. DO’s receive more training in the musculoskeletal system and the use of OMT.
For example, a patient came to Dr. Crook with complaints of upper back pain and the patient wanted to know why he was spending most of his time on the patient's legs. Dr. Crook explained that the legs were pulling on the back which restricted motion, and unless he freed these restrictions, the pain would persist. Much to this patient's amazement, the pain improved dramatically without even touching his back.
In addition, treatments can be helpful for headaches, neck pain, back pain, asthma, allergies, sinusitis, ear problems, extremity pain, and foot issues.
